iCatia - Catia Running on an iMacApple has always made a big to-do about their products being able to run programs comparable to those that you currently use a PC for. With the introduction of Intel based Macs running Boot Camp and Windows the line blurred even more. All of this has landed me in an odd place. I am currently considering where to spend my money on my next computer, a new PC or a Mac. Seeing a Mac run mspaint and Word is one thing, but what about us that use heavy duty programs in Windows? The major hurdle that's kept me from going Mac lately is the unknown. My home computer HAS to be able to handle the programs I use at work. Luckily for me a coworker got a new 24" iMac and installed Boot Camp Windows XP on it for work purposes. Today I set out to put the unknown to rest. I installed Catia V5 R16 under Boot Camp. The installation went flawlessly. After the installation finished the iMac went from double click to waiting on me in less than 30 seconds. This is HUGE for Catia! I was floored. After tweeking the appearance settings I opened a file off of a thumb drive and took it for a test drive. I can now confidently say that the new (late 2009) Core 2 Duo Mac desktops (iMac 2.6 & Mac Mini 2.5 with GeForce 9400 & 4GB RAM) will run Catia without a hitch. Note: All of the extra clicking and menu opening is due to the Microsoft mouse I plugged in. It has side scrolling and that practically renders the mouse useless for CAD use, but it had 3 buttons so it served the purpose of the test. :) code pour embarquer la vidéo : >>> http://www.youtube.com/embed/ssM08yEmT8k <<< |
