Purpose of this video is to show you how to create additional partitions on your SD card so that you can use it with HTC Desire custom ROMs utilizing data to Linux EXT4 partition (D2EXT) like RCMixHD or iNsertCoin. DISCLAMER: I am note responsible for any damage and/or error(s) you may encounter . To make additional partitions you can also use Ubuntu or GParted Live CD, but this instructional video is made for Windows OS users and we are going to use freeware application MiniTool Partition Home Edition. We are going to make one FAT32, two EXT3 partitions and one Linux-Swap. D2EXT ROMs use EXT4, but you don't have to worry. When you flash the ROM it will format EXT3 partitions to EXT4 and align them. You can download the MiniTool Partition Home Edition from http://www.partitionwizard.com/. This process will erase all content on your SD card so if you want to save files already on your SD card you have to make a backup BEFORE you begin. First you need to put your SD card in a card reader.( You can also use recovery on your phone by enabling USB mode if you know how.) After you inserted SD card you should see it in Windows Explorer. Write down drive letter of SD card. (In this case it is "K:" ) Start MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition. You will see all hard drives and SD cards on your computer. You have to locate your SD card. Look for drive letter you wrote down. Here I have letter "K:" When you did that, right click on the SD card and select "Delete All Partitions". You might have one or more (in this case I have one FAT32 and one EXT3 partition) partitions and doing this we make sure that we start partitioning "clean" SD card. Now, on this 16GB SD card I'm going to have the following setup: First FAT32 Second EXT3 ~1 GB Third EXT3 ~300MB Fourth Linux ~100MB So the first thing I have to do is make size of the first partition FAT32 so that after I have 1.4GB free space for three other partitions. Right click on Unallocated space and select "Create". In the drop-down list "Create As:" you must select PRIMARY. "File System:" will be FAT32. Now you have to adjust the size of this partition so that "Unallocated space after:" is approximately 1450MB. Optionally you can enter Label for your new partition. When finished click OK button. Now right click on Unallocated space and select "Create" In the drop-down list "Create As:" you must select PRIMARY. "File System:" will be EXT3. In the box "Partition size" type 1024. Optionally you can enter Label for your new partition. Click OK button. Now right click on Unallocated space and select "Create" In the drop-down list "Create As:" you must select PRIMARY. "File System:" will be EXT3. In the box "Partition size" type 300. Optionally you can enter Label for your new partition. Click OK button. Now right click on Unallocated space and select "Create" In the drop-down list "Create As:" you must select PRIMARY. "File System:" will be Linux Swap. Click OK button We just made a new setup for SD card. All you have to do now is click Apply and the Wizard will start making changes. After a couple of minutes you will have your SD card ready. In windows OS you will only be able to see the first partition FAT32 and this is the one where your phone stores music, photos etc. Now you can copy your favorite ROM and flash it through Recovery.
