If you want to easily follow the video, you may download the zip file which contains: -The blender setup in video -Two images with transparent background (PNGs) download link: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ax0gu0p709bkwc0/Blender%202.53%20Alpha%20images... This tutorial assumes you already know the basic usage of blender, and where most of the things are. STEP-BY-STEP instructions: 1) Make sure blender is in the UV edit mode, or if you already have a setup with the image/UV editor, it's fine. The blend file in the zip provided above is already in UV/Material editing mode. 2) If you are using the blend file above, select the smallest plane (if you aren't using the blend, select the object you want to put the image with transparent background on), and name the material whatever you want. Naming things with the appropriate name is good practice. 3) Now enter edit mode (TAB key switches between object/edit mode) 4) Select all, and then press the U key -- Unwrap. 5) Then in the image/UV editor (while still in edit mode), click Image -- Open, and choose an image with a transparent background. Two PNG images with transparent background are already provided in the zip file up above. 6) Of course, make sure the image is oriented correctly, rotating the plane should fix it. 7) Now on the texture tab, add a new texture with a 'Image or Movie' type texture. You may also select 'Show Alpha' to see the result. 8) In the 'Mapping' section, set the 'Coordinates' to UV. 9) Now go back to the material tab, set specular to 1 or 0, and hardness to max if you want to. 10) Then in the 'Transparency' section, click on the Transparency checkbox, and leave the settings on how it is (z transparency with alpha to 1) 11) In Options, check 'Face Textures' and 'Face Textures Alpha' 12) Then render. You'll notice the plane is still casting its full shape. 13) Select the bigger plane, and give it a new material, and name it appropriately. 14) While still in the material tab, look for the 'Shadow' section, check 'Receive Transparent' and render again. The tree image I provided somehow shows some white in the edges still, and I don't know why, so I provided another image, a bit larger than the tree image. You may also find your own image with transparent background. I tried adding annotations, but it's being a tard and so i removed it. I'd use my voice, but I know I won't really do a good job of it, you'll just have to look at the video, or follow the instructions above if you know your way around blender 2.5's UI. I'll attempt a PDF tutorial next time I have the chance. code pour embarquer la vidéo : >>> http://www.youtube.com/embed/-GYvjqjYr90 <<< |
