Cloud Computing & EU2020 with Jan Muehlfeit Chairman of Microsoft Europe27 Apr 2010 @ 1245 The Role of the Cloud in Delivering EU2020 About the Speech: Jan Muehlfeit, Chief Executive of Microsoft Europe delivered a keynote address to IIEA members on how the EU 2020 strategy for innovation, growth and jobs, (the successor to the Lisbon Strategy for Growth and Jobs) can be enhanced and delivered by cloud computing. According to Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan, TD : The Irish Government has identified cloud computing as a key driver of our economic renewal. Not only does this emerging technology afford our ICT sector huge opportunities, but it has the potential to transform the way we, in Government and in the wider economy, do business. Cloud Computing is a new technology where data is outsourced and stored in a secure environment (the cloud) and then provided as a service online, either by subscription or on a pay on demand basis to customers. In his speech, Mr Muehlfeit will deliberate on innovative ways to use the power of technology to help deliver better public services and will address a wide range of important policy issues such as e-health, information privacy and security and transport.
