Arvinode Road Test - 65 Mustang K CodeThe is the authentic sound of the original Arvinode exhaust on a 1965 K code Mustang. The car is numbers-matching and winner of multiple MCA Gold Awards in the Concours Driven class. I wanted to bring back the noise of the original Arvinode exhaust system for early High Performance Mustangs. This footage is the road test of the final prototype of the concours correct system that was fabricated by Waldron's Antique Exhaust. With the help of Waldron's owner Joe Tonietto I installed 4 different versions of the system to get the fit & finish dialed in. Joe did the fabrication work in Michigan and I did the installations in California. The drive-bys were filmed alone on the backroads of Northern California early one morning. The Arvinode quarter wave system was equipped on HiPo Mustangs produced from 10/15/64 to 3/22/65. The reproduction was built from original Arvin and Ford engineering plans. There was generous and invaluable help from former Arvin and Ford employees, and HiPo Mustang Forum members who contributed to the project. We knew we had succeeded when former Arvin factory shop foreman Jim Abott told us, "You nailed it!" The project was a great adventure and the story has been featured in a number of magazines including Mustang Monthly, Performance Business, Muscle Car Enthusiast, and Mustang Times.
