Frankie Merlo at Campbell's (Scene Three)by David McFadden A ONE ACT COMEDY IN THREE SCENES It's October l963 in New York City. Frankie Merlo has died of lung cancer at 42 and is laid out at Campbell's Funeral Chapel on Madison at 81st. For 15 years, he was the manager/secretary of Tennessee Williams. The play has one set, a funeral parlor with a closed mahogany coffin in the center and a grouping of chairs to the left and right. Merlo's family from New Jersey are to the right, in mostly black clothes and black hair. Tennessee and his celebrity friends are to the left.
