FEATURED ARTISTS KATE JACKSON Former Long Blondes singer Kate Jackson created all of the bands artwork over their six year career. The Sheffield based Indie icons rose to prominence after years of toiling up and down the country as the best unsigned band in Britain. They won the NMEs Philip Hall Radar Award in 2006 and signed to Rough Trade records shortly afterwards. Two critically acclaimed albums and two world tours followed. Their songs were full of femme fatales, failed actresses, sixties pop idols and glamorous housewives, each one its own mini kitchen sink drama. Kates single and album covers were intended to bring the lyrics alive visually, creating a fantasy world for the fans to enter into and become part of. Her cover stars include Diana Dors, Dusty Springfield, Faye Dunaway and Kim Novak and reference film, music, pop culture and travel. In October 2008, Kate announced her intention to follow a solo career after the bands demise, and has since been writing with ex Suede guitarist Bernard Butler. MATT WOOD Matt began painting in 2002 when he moved to Sheffield to study economics and sociology and decided that he needed some distinctive posters to decorate his room in the university halls of residence. Borrowing some materials from his father who works in the sign industry, he set about creating pictures on white Foamex panels and after experimenting with several types of paint, he found that Dulux trade emulsion gave the best results. His technique developed quickly as he moved from a two-tone pop art style to his celebrated photo-realistic style. DENNIS MIDDLETON Dennis Middleton is a self taught artist from Sheffield. Born in South Yorkshire in 1953, Dennis always enjoyed art as a teenager and could often be found in his room interpreting his surroundings with his pencils and sketchbooks. Dennis and?his wife have been involved in the art business for nearly twenty years and they have a successful gallery and framing business in Hillsborough, Sheffield. LIZZIE JACKSON Lizzie Jackson was born in Muswell Hill, London, in August 1945. After studying for her BA in Fine Art at Hornsey College of Art, she went on to work as a House Designer for a kitchenware manufacturer. Her designs were sold in Selfridges, Liberty and Fenwicks, in London. During the 1970s, Lizzie worked in the fashion industry as a model and continued to pursue her creative passions by designing anything from housewares to accessories and hats. JASPER PACHEK Jasper Prachek is a photographer whose passion for taking pictures began during the late 70s when he decided to use his camera to record the moment that punk broke in the UK. This recently uncovered archive of photographs gives a vivid account of what it was like to be caught in the glaring white heat of a musical revolution.
